G10 Tech Class #33

Today we will continue working on Project 3: Robotics.

Please work on finishing Investigation today, and we will be starting Plan stage as well.

To review Investigation details, please visit last class' Blog post.

Please submit Investigation before class is over by following following the steps to submit assignments posted in the MYP Tech Website. Remember to Include the Assignment Standards.

Why do think we move from Investigation to Plan, "skipping" Design stage?

Based on your Investigation, once you decide what your final product will be, you should start working on your Plan stage, defining what will be done when and with what resources.
Focus on the process of creation/building of the robot.

Remember to include:
  • a step by step list of instructions to build your robot  (like giving very detailed instructions for someone else to build it for you!)
  • a detailed timeline (for the process of building/creation)
  • the resources you will use
Take a look at the updated list of assignments and Due Dates for G10 - Project 3.

Before you leave you need to make your Process Journal entry of the day.

G10 Tech Class #21

Today, we have better connectivity :-) so you will need to complete your 3D Map. Remember to use  Top-down and Bottom-up strategies to make your 3D map of the whole school as our starting point and then "zoom" into the groups' school tour stops: Project 2 - G10 Tour Stops.

If you stil need to download Google SketchUp, please see me about it so we do not clog the bandwidth.

Please organize your group members' roles to start working on Design stage.

  • Include a variety of different designs/proposed solutions  (at least 3)
  • All proposed designs have to be accesible using a mobile device
  • Explain every part of each ideas/product solution
  • For explaining your designs, please use different techniques like story boards, sketches, labelled diagrams with explanations, etc.
  • Evaluate each design critically against the design specifications (assess what design specs each design meets or not)
  • Choose one design to build
  • Justify your choice of design and tool/app that you will be using
  • Look at Due Dates for Project 2 and plan accordingly.

  • Don't forget to make your Process Journal entry of the day!

    G10 A-3 TechClass #8

    Good morning!

I have received your Investigation stage through the submitting process and I am thankful to ones that submitted on time and following the stated procedure. I will be replying to your submitted email your grade and comments today. I will post on the board a list of people who are missing the assignment.
Today your Design stage is due following the G10 Due Dates planned. Please work on that during class and submit it by the end of the day today. You can review the guidelines for this stage on last class' blog entry.

Don't forget to make your journal entry of the day and today you should include in it the sketches of your designs as visual evidence!

Today please start working on Design.

    • Include a variety of different designs/proposed solutions  (at least 3)
    • Explain every part of each ideas/product solution
    • For explaining your designs, please use different techniques like story boards, sketches, labelled diagrams with explanations, etc.

    G10 A-3 TechClass #3

Please review the mind map assignment on the Design Cycle you were scheduled to finish and submit last class.

Let's take some time from this class to look into your assignments and make sure that the Assignments standards are included in your mind map as well as follow the instructions on how to submit your Assignments.

For our first project: Project 1, I would like you to work collaboratively in groups to Design and Create a product that will help the G7 students learn about the Design Cycle. Let's start brainstorming about what would be useful to them, why?, what shall we explain / teach by using your product?

    Welcome to G10 Technology!

Following our conversations yesterday, this is the first blog post for our G10 MYP Technology class!

Please take some time to browse around the MYP Technology website and find information about the course, schedule, expectations, standards and policies among others.

I have also posted the updated A/B days calendar in the MYP Technology website's home page.

Following the IB MYP Technology curriculum (Group 8) , we will be using the core tool: Design Cycle.

Please read in detail the information available at these links.

For further understanding and reflection on the Design Cycle, please read the article below so we can discuss it in class.
Breaking The Design Cycle: Get Creative To Be Creative

Looking into every stage of the design Cycle, we will make a mind map showing what "happens" in each stage. Let's start with Investigation!

Resources: MYP Technology Website, IB MYP Technology, Design Cycle Graph and Design Cycle Checklist among others that you will need to find!

Suggested Tool: Spicy Nodes or you can also browse some alternatives....
